BR 430 is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from TYPICAL STIHL PRODUCT I have just finished clearing land around our house, After installing a sprinkler system, I applied starter fertilizer and then grass seed. I put down a healthy layer of straw to help keep seed moist. After four weeks of watering twice daily, and countless leafs that had fallen since sewing yard I needed to remove straw and leafs. I thought to rake leafs and straw but was worried I would rip up new grass shoots. I thought to using new mower and mulching leafs/straw but was worried I would dull new blades from small limbs and branches that had fallen from winds. I purchased the STIHL BR 430 leaf blower from my local Stihl dealer. On the way home I stopped and purchased 91 octane premium gasoline ( NO ETHANOL) from the local Citgo and then added Stihl fuel oil mix. The leafs and straw were saturated with moister, but the BR 430 moved the leafs/straw with the greatest of ease. I finished in record time, the blower cleared all leafs/straw and even the dead small twigs that had falling from the trees. The blower started each time with little effort and like all my stihl products ( 3 chain saws and 1 line trimmer) work every day all day providing you MAINTAIN and don't use ethanol fuel. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. If you are looking for lawn equipment the name STIHL pronounced (STEEL) are far ahead of the competition and made in AMERICA to boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I expected Rated it highest, but I've owned it for only about a month. I've used it several times with no problems. The power is is more than I expected. I though 25 pds, with fuel, on my back would be heavy, but it's not. Very comfortable harness and throttle handle. I'm daring the leafs to fall in my yard this year. Great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first backpack blower Awesome! I was concerned about the power based on the outlet diameter and comparing it to what I see the professionals using. I was pleasantly surprised that this blower has more than enough power for what I need around the house and the vegetable garden. Rest assured that this blower can handle anything you need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blower I just purchased this blower yesterday, 11 April 2016 and have already used it to "sweep" my 1/4 mile driveway and around the house. It is a fantastic blower with plenty of power for what I intend to use it for in and around my 10 acres. It replaced a not so old hand held from another manufacturer that was very unreliable. The back padding is comfortable and the shoulder straps are wide and fit me nicely. I am 6'2" and 240 lbs for comparison. The blower feels light and easy to wear/use for extended periods of time. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this machine to anyone looking to upgrade to a backpack style blower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from clearly designed for pro use -- but I like it around my house anyway! Dealer demo'd the blower on a cold late winter day. We lifted ice off his pavement and I was sold. It is now early spring in Wt Mountains of NH and we have no snow, so I decided to clean up the yard. This machine is amazing. I accomplished more in an hour than my last blower could do in half a day. It literally raked my lawn, if you will, via digging out embedded stones, and much ground-in debris, from my grass. It lifted wet leaves and dried out soaked grass remaining beneath. I was impressed with the comfort of the pack and the control. It has aways started (used 3 times in two weeks) on nearly first pull. I trust my dealer very much (P&S Equipment Littleton NH) and they have taken care of me via great advice and service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blower Just picked up the BR 430 blower. And I just have two words to describe this blower , ( Totally Awesome). My Yard has several tall trees of different varieties. There's nothing this blower can't blow. Small branches, twigs, acorns, leaves. I didn't realize just how much force this blower had when I first purchased it. I was able to blow all of the leaves , twigs, that were in the front of my yard to the back of the yard an then into the woods. And I have a pretty big yard that's close to 1 acre. Now I sit at home waiting for more leaves to fall so I can take the blower back out of my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One nice rig Easy to start, if you follow the directions in manual. It's powerful, moving large amounts of yard materials with ease, and it's easy to maneuver. If you have backpack experience, it's not hard at all to put on and adjust. Otherwise, I'm sure there's a slight learning curve for first timers. The fuel tank is a good size too. All and all a good rig.(of course it would be nice if they were a little less expensive, but it's a small price to pay for a MADE IN AMERICA product)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great stihl product Purchased a br430 from Bairs in North Canton Ohio was unsure of what unit to buy and was upgrading from a old 55 hand blower the salesman who seemed to also be a stihl maintenance tech was super helpful and knowledgeable. I have had the chance to use the blower about 12 times and it works awesome has great power and really lifts everything up and off your lawn or concrete! Hope it last as long as my stihl saws, weed eater and my old blower.... Thanks Doug A

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blower I purchased this blower due too my br420c being stolen out of my garage. This is an excellent blower. It is very powerful and moves the grass clippings and leaves in my yard wonderfully. I truly believe Stihl makes the best small yard equipment in the world. Very easy to start. Read the directions and you won't have any trouble. I also have a fc95 edger that is easy to start and cuts through any sidewalk I trim. You can feel the quality built in the product. I am totally satisfied with my purchase and you will be also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from blowes a lot of leafs fast I wish I had bought this blower years a go. It is easy to use, not to heavy and blows leafs great. I am 69 years old and have had both knees replaced and I run 2 or 3 tanks of gas and take a break not because of my knees hurt, but when you get my age it takes a little time to get your wind back. My STHIL dealer here in Benton is great to deal with

I had no trouble with the straps what so ever and i am 14! It can blow sticks, rocks, and leaves with no hesitation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Major Failure at 1.5 year and 15 hour of use I purchased my blower a year and a half ago, Today I was using my blower and it was running fine. I heard a bang and it quit. Inspection revealed that the bracket holding the coil had broken and allowed the coil to contact the armature. The bracket is subject to heat and vibration yet is only about 1/8 of an inch thick. In my opinion, it was doomed to eventually fail due to poor design considering the weight of the coil. To call the BR 430 professional grade is an overstatement in my opinion. The dealer refused to talk about potential warrantee coverage. so I have yet to learn if it will be covered. The bracket is an integral part of the whole lower half of the engine. Repair cost will likely be equal to the cost of a new blower. If it is not covered I will not replace it with a Stihl. Too bad, I really liked this unit until today

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great power to move even wet leaves Used this blower after our first tropical storm, good power moving wet leaves and small branches. Great time saver

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a very good product overall Overall I like the product very much. I have a very large area to clean with leaves and pine needles. To be fair, I have only had the opportunity to use the unit twice. I live on the edge of a national forest, so I have a large volume of leaves to move. I do this in stages. A few days at a time. The unit works well at its job and looks well constructed. The only complaint I have about it is that the shoulder straps keeps slipping off, even after adjustment. This is a real nuisance. An adjustable waist strap, or chest strap may help solve this problem. Otherwise, it performs and handles well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only missing 1 feature. I like the unit that I bought. I believe that it would be better if it had a cross belt to help keep the machine on the operators back better. I would also like it to be about 5 pounds lighter. Other than that I'm very satisfied. I never give a perfect rating, so needless to say a good machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Problems I read reviews about the straps sliding down, not having power when starting, and a few more problems. But, I purchased it from Ace Hardware, where it sputtered a bit when they started it for me, but after it warmed up for a minute, it ran fine.As for the straps, the man at Ace showed me that you need to put the blower on something about the height you would have it on your back. Put the straps on, and then have another person pull the straps from the bottom to cinch it up properly. In doing that, they don't slip for me, and it works fine.Very happy with the ease to use, reliability, and the weight for the power it has.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Blower and Service The blower is fantastic. It blows leafs, sticks, and snow with no problem. Starts every time with no problem! A couple of small issues. The on / off switch stopped working. Called service and they fixed it right away. They had to order the parts and temporary fixed it so i could use until it came in. The plastic hose clamp that holds the hose together keeps coming apart. No matter how much i tightened it is kept coming off. Simple fix-small piece of duct tape and re closed the clamp. Problem fixed. Again, this blower has made my life easier. I would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product with plenty of power, easy & fun to use. I describe this blower as one step below hurricane. I went with this unit because I purchased neglected property with many, many oak trees. This blower did the heavy moving of years of matted debris. Packed wet stuff, sticks, bark, small branches, acorns, they all were easy to move along. Once you get the hang of making channels, long rows of 3 foot high piles of mixed stuff can be no problem. I discovered that the matted wet stuff would just need a minute to dry, so I would double back & get right to bare ground fast, lifting mats of the old stuff easily. Once the old stuff was out of the way, this year's leaves were child's play. I got month's worth of raking done in days. I was able to run the unit 6 or 7 hours with no fatigue, my wife can do a tank of gas or two at a rip & she was able to start it easily once broken in.Also- I have a complex roof, it took me 2 days with a ladder & bucket to clean the gutters last year. This year I ran out of time, so I grabbed all my old vaccum extensions to see if I could cobble something together. (Sorry Stihl, I did not like the reviews & didn't buy the gutter attachment.) I discovered that my Shop Vac extensions fit perfectly if you invert them & slide the small end into the blower nozzle, no duct tape needed- slip fit! Violating all safety protocols, I got up on the roof & was able to stay about 15 feet from the edge & just blew the gutters clean in 1 hour. (To make it safe, I will be getting a safety harness & put a couple of tie offs into the roof).I am extremely impressed with this unit & highly reccomend if you have the need for a large volume blower that is a pleasure to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This blower starts easy and has plenty of power. I love my back pack blower. Iam a sixty year old female who first thought the back pack style might be too heavy but I can start it and get it in place just fine. My salesman let me try it on myself to check. It starts easy and that was a concern for me too. It has a little ledge to put your foot on that holds the blower in place as you pull the crank. It has plenty of power to move the leaves. I I have leaf piles that are sometimes 2 ft or more high. I used it at least six time last month. It made the job easier this year. I may try it on fluffy snow.
