Forestry Helmet System is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good helmet I bought one of these helmets back in 2002 when I worked for the National Park Service. I took it with me in the backcountry every time I needed to use a saw. It saved my pretty face from flying debris too many times to count, and never gave me any of the trouble other reviewers have mentioned. I have replaced the screen once due to the original getting smashed up by a horse, and swapped out the earmuffs because the plastic swivels got too loose after 5 years of constant use. I would definately recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ear muff plastic connection to helmet breaks. Expensive to replace One muff's plastic connector to helmet broke when helmet fell off tailgate. I couldn't simply replace the small broken swivel connector. I couldn't replace the connector and the perfectly fine muff. My only option was to buy a whole new muff set (left and right) for almost half what I paid for the helmet. Poor design results in expensive repair. Otherwise the sweatband and adjustable suspension system work great. I wish muff attachment was sturdier and less expensive to replace.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wear it. This helmet setup is light and has saved me from injury several times. I use it every time I cut wood or brush. No problems after 8 months of weekly use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the helmet and face shield. Ear muffs need more work I will never feel completely safe felling trees without this PPE. However the unit took a hit from a branch and it broke the ear muff. It now dangles uselessly until I can find a replacement ear muff. This was standard work and I'm disappointed that the ear muff attachment wasn't more robust. Even when it was new I wished that the ear muffs sealed a little better. They never seemed to completely seat on my head.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from HELMET IS FINE/HEARING PROTECTION NOT I have an earlier model of this helmet, the 886-0102 that appears to be identical, Never a problem with the helmet. The only problem is with the way the hearing protectors connect with the helmet that are the same on this helmet. The plastic pivots routinely break. I do not subject the helmet to abuse. I expect better from Stihl

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This helmet works well for me. Helmet does what it's supposed to do. I do not have any of the issues listed in reviews before me. I'd give it an A+

Rated 3 out of 5 by from very good, and bad Bought one about 8-9 years ago, thought it was the bees-knees. The screen instead of plexiglass is a great idea - doesn't scratch or cloud. It hinges out of the way. I prefer it to safety goggles, as while chainsawing, you can still get hit in the rest of your face by chips, etc, and it doesn't fog up. The helmet has always met my needs - I'm not just a homeowner, but involved heavily in FireWise and an infestation of spruce-bark-beetles left us with thousands of standing dead spruce, and a lot of property to clear back from homes and electric lines. That bright orange color keeps them from getting lost. However. The earmuffs, while a good idea, are chintzy. I'm on my second pair and now one of them is broken. The attachment at the helmet is what goes/breaks. So you have to find a pair of muffs that swivel so you can put the strap at the back of your neck. Yes, i use those foam ear plugs too. The headband adjuster is also prone to breaking - cheap plastic - it seems to have stripped. No, I'm not in the habit or dropping them or throwing them around or letting branches hit them. If i was a pro logger, i wouldn't buy these. It is probably worth it for the homeowner who uses it very occasionally.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for head and face protection not so good on hearing protection. I've had and used this product for several years, mostly used for trimmer work, Keeps debris out of your face, the hearing muffs are not a good fit and do not form a good seal around the ears, so not so good on hearing protection. The good news is you can get replacement parts for them. I think next time I'll try the pro series.
